Football

Find someone to throw a football with near you

Most pickup football is not a game at all: it is two or three people throwing routes on a park field. When there are enough of you, it becomes touch or flag. CatchBuddy is built for exactly that range — post "throwing at the park at 6" or a full 5-on-5.

    What a session looks like

With two people it is catch and route running — one throws, one runs slants, outs and go routes, then swap. With six or more it is two-hand touch or flag: pick teams, mark first-down lines with cones or jackets, and play to a score or a time. No tackling unless everyone has agreed and has the gear for it.

    Where games happen

    • Any open park field or school field after hours.
    • Beaches and large lawns work for throwing; you only need a full field for a game.
    • Check that the field is not booked for a league before you post a time.

    What to bring

    • A football — flag it on your post if you have one.
    • Flags or belts if you own them; otherwise it is two-hand touch.
    • Cleats help on grass but are not required. Cones are a bonus.

    Pickup etiquette

    • Rotate who plays quarterback so everyone gets to run routes.
    • Agree on the contact level before the first snap and stick to it.
    • Count the rush out loud so there is no argument about early pressure.

    How CatchBuddy helps

Post the park, the time, and whether you are bringing the football, and people nearby who play football can see it and ask to join. Or browse players near you and invite someone directly. Games are at public parks, messaging stays on the platform, and everyone builds a rating history. Read the safety guidelines before your first meetup.
